Frequently Asked Questions

General FAQ

  • Do you accept insurance?

At this time we do not accept any form of insurance and many of our services may not be covered by insurance. As a direct care practice this allows the provider to spend more time focusing on patients, instead of worrying about meeting charting requirements dictated by insurance companies or battling with prior authorizations that could still be denied.

  • What forms of payment are accepted?

Credit card, debit card, or ACH is required to be kept on file as a convenient method of payment for recurring membership charges, in-office services, medication charges, lab fees, etc. Your payment information is kept confidential and secure through Hint and Stripe processing.

We do accept HSA and FSA cards. At times we can experience difficulty with processing payments depending on which company is providing your card. It is the responsibility of the patient to check with their card provider for determination of covered services. In the event that we cannot process your HSA or FSA card, a different method of payment will be requested.

  • How much will it cost?

Please review the Plans and Pricing page for more details. If pricing is not shown for what you are specifically interested in, this may mean further work up is needed to determine which specific service will work best for you. Pricing will always be transparent and you will always know your costs up front before we start a treatment regimen.

  • When will I be charged?

You will be charged on a monthly basis beginning with your first prescription.

  • I have never gave myself an injection, will I be taught how?

Absolutely! These are subcutaneous injections meaning we recommend injection to be given in an area with subcutaneous fat such as the abdomen which has great absorption. The needles are generally small and there should be minimal discomfort. We will show you how to inject and will even have a model that you can practice on.

  • What if I am still uncomfortable with giving myself an injection?

We are happy to work with a family member to show them how to properly inject or upon receipt of your medication at home you may contact us to bring it into the office for assistance.

Membership

  • How long do I have to maintain membership?

Where we allow our members to order 2 months of medication at a time, patients must maintain their membership for 2 months after their last order/reorder date. This allows our practitioners to medically manage the prescription they have wrote.

  • How do I cancel my membership?

First we recommend you talk to your practitioner about canceling. After contacting your practitioner they will contact our billing department. They will check and see if you are eliglble for cancelation (outside of the 2 months from your last reorder) You will also receive a cancelation acknowledgement form, once this form is signed, you will no longer be charged for your membership.

Lab FAQ: The Ins and Outs

  • How do I obtain labs?

We offer the ability to draw your lab work in the office usually during your first consult. Blood samples are taken in office, prepared, packaged, and sent to an outside lab for processing.

  • How are labs paid for?

    1. Cash Pay: We are very lucky to partner with an outside lab facility who offers NP Modalities great discounts for processing lab panels. We recommend taking advantage of this discount. The way cash pay works is you pay NP Modalities for your lab work and we pay the lab company. The costs of your lab work will always be transparent depending on what panel is ordered and you will know what that cost is prior to having labs drawn. When you are quoted a cost, that is what the cost will be.

    2. Your Insurance: We know some people may want to use their insurance for labs. In this case you would be handed a requisition to take to a local lab. We plan to have accounts set up with Quest and Labcorp for draw and processing. *Please note if your insurance does not cover your labs for any reason, you will be responsible for the bill. This is something I have no control over as I do not work with insurance companies.*

  • Will I receive a copy of my test results?

Absolutely! We will make sure you are provided a copy of your results at your request.

  • What if I just had lab work recently? Can you use those labs?

Please bring in any lab work that you have recently had completed. As long as these labs were taken in the last 3 months we should be able to utilize them. Anything over 3 months will likely need to be repeated as we want to make sure we are looking at the most up to date values to decide on your therapy. Once those labs were reviewed we would discuss anything else that needed to be ordered or rechecked.

  • How often will I need labs repeated?

Following your first appointment, we will usually repeat lab values around 2-3 months after treatment initiation. This allows us to keep track of your progress and make adjustments as necessary to make sure you are receiving treatment individualized to you. Once we reach a phase of maintenance, this timeframe may change to longer times in between lab work.

Other Reminders for labs:

  • You should be fasting before your labs if possible. This means only water for 8 hours before you come see us! We will have some snacks in the office if you need something on your stomach following labs.
  • Be hydrated! We want to see those veins!
  • For follow up labs:
  • We need to wait at least 5 hours after cream has been applied if you are using a hormone cream therapy.
  • We need to obtain your labs on your injection day, but prior to your injection if you are using injectable hormone therapy.
